Bedding is not something you buy with every trip to the store. In fact on average people buy bedding maybe 2-4 times per year. With the changing of the seasons is one of the main times to purchase new bedding. To understand which bedding is right for you here are some pointers to help.

When you break down your bed you have a bed frame which works to keep the headboard and footboard together. Then you have the box spring which sits on the bed frame. Then you have the mattress that you sleep on. Inside most mattresses are springs that hold you up while you sleep. The filling that surrounds the springs make up most of the mattress. This filling will determine the amount of comfort you experience with your mattress. The ticking is the thick piece of the mattress that is stretched around the entire frame of the mattress. You may or may not have a feather bed on the top of your mattress. If you do, this will give you an added layer of comfort to your mattress because the cushiony feeling of feathers can make a comfortable bed.

Now it’s time to determine what goes on the top of your mattress. Thread count determines the quality of the sheets. The more thread count there are the higher quality the sheet set is and the more durable it will be. Synthetic material is more affordable but it doesn’t last as long. Covers are also used on the bed. These covers are called coverlet, this is another word for duvet. A duvet is a bedspread, comforter, blanket or a quilt. Duvets are usually thick and filled with feathers which are perfect for winter. A quilt is a handmade blanket that is usually hand sewn together and it is thinner.

If your bed has a canopy you may want to decorate with a material to make the look of the room relaxing. A canopy can hang from a poster bed frame or straight from the ceiling and draping over the bed. You can purchase a canopy style that is classic or contemporary. You can buy or make the canopy to fit your bedroom.

It’s important to know all the facts before choosing the bedding for your bed. You want to make sure that you purchase accessories that will match your bedding. That can be decorative picture frames, lamps, candles, and lighting that can be dimmed or brightened accordingly. An area rug is the perfect finishing touch to your decor.

Redecorating Your Bedroom In Contemporary Style

If you like the look of the contemporary style you can get that in your home with just a few easy tips and tricks. You need to know a little more about this style before you begin.

The most commonly recognized feature is the colors and lines. The most popular colors are the light beige and white with contrasting black. Dark furniture is another feature. Lines and shapes are all kept simple and straight, nothing fancy. The overall look of the room should be a clean look. Walls that are not cluttered up are part of the look as well as open spaces.

You don’t want anything cluttered. Organization is the way to go with this look so go through everything and discard what you don’t need or use. The bedrooms seem to always catch the overspill from other rooms. Walls should be white in color beige, or a pastel green. Neutral colors help to accessorize and not take over. The windows shouldn’t have little to no coverings. Make sure that if you do use curtains the rods are simple too.

Beds are usually low, spacious with self-color bed covers, tucked in neatly to show the edges. Frills are not part of this theme. A neat area rug at the foot of the bed in self-colors or geometric patterns should be placed to match the surrounding colors.

All furniture should be dark in color and not over designed. You will need a small closet for your clothing and a chest of drawer. The furniture should be simple as well. No lines or curves allowed in this design. Handles and knobs should be plain.

A stylish, well-designed mirror and dressing table would add glamour to the room, again in the same color tone and adding to the geometry in the room. All furniture made with this style in mind is simple with straight lines with no complicated curves or elaborate designs. Even the handles or knobs on drawers are plain without any embossing or design.

Potted plants add life to the room; tall palms look elegant when placed in the corner of the room. Artificial plants with different color leaves brighten up the room and are also easily maintainable. Placing them on side tables adds a little color to the simple look. Abstract paintings in neat, black frames stand out on the wall. Too many would cluster the walls and contradict the style, so it should be kept to a bare minimum. A transparent jar with color stones would add glamour to the modern style, even a bowl of potpourri; a mix of your choice would enhance the fragrance in the area. At the end of the day, you would be very happy with your room, the one place you would always come back to after a hard day, to just relax.

Don’t be ripped off by imitations. Be sure to buy authentic modern area rugs directly.
